He actively serves the Fayette County community through numerous civic organizations and boards, including the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, the Fayette County Development Authority, and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. His leadership has been recognized with prestigious awards like the Avenues of Service Award from Rotary International and the Carolyn Cary Dream Builder Award from the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

He also has a significant impact on the youth of Fayette County, regularly refereeing soccer matches, speaking to classrooms, and hosting students in his robust internship program.

Extensive Legal Experience

Judge Thompson's deep understanding of the law is built on extensive experience. Before his judicial tenure, he excelled in private practice, served as an Assistant Solicitor-General in Spalding County, and was a certified mediator and adjunct professor at Point University. His diverse background has equipped him with a broad and profound grasp of legal principles.

Innovative Justice
and Accessibility

Beyond the bench, Judge Thompson is a true innovator. He established the first DUI Court (2016) and the Veterans Treatment Court (2019) within the Griffin Judicial Circuit, demonstrating his commitment to rehabilitative and effective justice.

As a representative on the Judicial Council Standing Committee on Access to Justice, he works tirelessly to ensure our legal system is accessible and fair to all.
